Planning a Wedding? Here’s What Your Wedding Photographer Wants to Say: 5 Things 2026 & 2027 Couples Should Know

Planning your 2026 or 2027 wedding? You’re likely diving into opinions, timelines, and TikToks telling you what kind of bride you should be. As a someone who’s photographed more weddings than episodes in a reality show season…here’s the real talk. I’ve seen what actually matters—and what ends up being just noise.

  1. Booking a Photographer Late? Bold of You.

I’ve had brides message me 4 months before their date, devastated that I’m already booked. It’s best to book in advance. Photographers shouldn’t be ordered last-minute. If you want your dream photographer, book early. Like…before your dress. Before your mood board. Before your cousin gives you her opinion.

2. You Planned the Ceremony for 2:00PM? In Full Sun? Outside?

This is your friendly photographer telling you: Lighting can make or break the entire vibe. What we suggest is something more chef’s kiss. Like Golden hour. No shade, no plan, no backup? We love good lighting, don’t we? I suggest for you to do a walkthrough at your venue around the same time of day you’ll be getting married. And if I gasp softly when you say “2pm outdoors in July,” Just know it comes from love.

The love was real, but so was the overhead sun. Can you imagine this same shot with soft light?

3. You Need a Timeline… That Has Breathing Room.

We love a wedding day timeline. But let’s talk about the over-stuffed timelines. If you can’t find 10 minutes to sneak away with your spouse for a deep breath and a private “OMG, we’re married” moment, you’ve got one heck of a tight timeline. Those in-between shots? The ones where you can feel alive and out of auto pilot for the day, They need space to happen.

4. Pinterest Is Great, But Be Reasonable.

We love the inspo vibes from Pinterest. But you’ve got a 28-photo inspo list and want to hit every pose before cocktail hour? We love it, We love you, but not reasonable. The most jaw-dropping, emotional photos? They happen when you’re not trying. Trust me to guide you. Tell your story.

5. You Won’t Remember Everything. But You Will Remember How It Felt.

All the stress? The timeline tweaks? The drama? It fades. But you’ll remember the way they looked at you during your vows. You’ll remember laughing with your girls in the mirror. You’ll remember the joy. The stillness. The energy. That’s what I’m there to capture. Not perfection—presence.

Let’s Recap:

  • Book early

  • Watch the light

  • Make room to breathe

  • Trust your vendors

  • Don’t chase perfect—feel everything
